Having a visual aid for pin locations, keeping track of problem areas and many more.  Use this in conjunction with your drainage mapping and it is possible that problems can be solved by looking at the contours and drainage.  Imagine printing your contour maps in the afternoon, marking the pin location and handing the maps to your crew in the morning and pin location will be right were you asked it to be! Or, imagine that you start to have problems with yellowing or standing water on your green.  Having a contour and drainage map can possibly resolve issues before they become urgent.  If water pools over a drainage tile location, it is possible it is a clogged drain and flushing the green will resolve this.  If yellowing occurs, it is possible that toxic gases are trapped in the drainage and they need better venting. Having this information readily available can take a lot of the guess work out of common problems with simple solutions .
